According to property analytics data provider CoreLogic, more than 6.6 million homes in the United States are at risk of storm surge damage. Their 2015 Storm Surge Report takes an in-depth look at homes susceptible to hurricane-driven storm damage, and their potential reconstruction costs.

Florida tops CoreLogic's list with more than 2.5 million homes at risk, and an estimated total reconstruction cost of $491 billion.

As noted in a previous blog on storm surge alerts, storm surge is an unusual rise of water over and above normal, during a storm or hurricane.
