With the 2012 hurricane season around the corner, it’s important to make sure your family is properly prepared in case of an emergency.
Below is a list of this season’s storm names.
Hurricanes are named alphabetically, alternating between male and female names. The list contains names beginning with the letter A to W, with Q and U excluded. There are six lists that rotate. The list only changes when a hurricane has a major devastating effect and the name is retired. At this point, the name is replaced with another.
Since there were no significant hurricanes in 2006, the 2012 list is the same.
Hurricane season will officially begin on June 1 and end on November 30. Visit Florida Peninsula’s Learning Center to get more information on storm preparation and other important safety tips.
