Investigators Assist in Water Damage Insurance Fraud Arrest

At Florida Peninsula Insurance Company we strive to keep our rates low. One way we do this is through investigating claims we believe to be fraudulent. Sadly, the fraud of one person can have an effect on many.

Recently, one of Florida Peninsula’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) vendors investigated a claim where a customer experienced damage from water which leaked from the base of a toilet. The customer claimed the water caused damage to the laminate floor in his master bedroom. Our SIU team concluded the customer and a restoration employee conspired to commit fraud by submitting a $4,000 water extraction invoice for work which was never performed. In fact, the invoice was a complete fabrication. Despite each party claiming they didn't know each other, a relationship was confirmed resulting in a conviction of insurance fraud.
