As a homeowner, it is important to know and understand your coverage through your specific carrier. A typical homeowners insurance policy is there to protect you and your family in the event of a loss due to covered perils such as fire, theft, wind, and other costly hazards. Knowing what coverage you have can help determine what additional coverages you may need. Our list below highlights some of the additional coverages Florida Peninsula Insurance Company offers, which may not be included in your typical homeowners insurance policy.

Floods

A common misconception about homeowners insurance is believing there is coverage for floods and water damage. Homeowners insurance policies may protect against water damage, such as a pipe leak or hole in the roof, in specific circumstances, but will not cover damage from rising water caused by torrential rainfall or storm surge. To be covered in the case of a flood, you can obtain a separate flood insurance policy or a flood endorsement. Our flood endorsement replaces the need for a standalone flood policy and is designed to cover your personal possessions up to a specific coverage amount. Our endorsement exceeds the normal limits of an NFIP policy and can provide up to $2,000,000 of coverage for your home and up to $1,000,000 of coverage for your personal belongings. Find out more by calling your agent.

Earthquakes & Sinkholes

In most cases, earthquakes and sinkholes are not covered in your typical homeowners policy. Obtaining additional earthquake coverage, can provide coverage against a loss resulting from an earthquake. Additional sinkhole coverage can protect homeowners from structural damage to their home resulting from confirmed sinkhole activity. Keep in mind, sinkhole coverage is different from Catastrophic Ground Cover Collapse coverage, which is typically covered by your homeowners policy. Certain restrictions apply and are noted in your insurance policy.

Water Backup and Sump Overflow

Overflows or backups from your sump pump, sewer system or drains are not covered in a typical homeowners policy. Sewer backups and overflow can happen because of outdated sewer systems, sanitary blockages, or damage due to growing tree roots. Getting additional coverage can protect against direct physical loss caused by water which backs up through sewers or drains.  Florida Peninsula Insurance Company offers protection against these types of losses through the purchase of its Platinum Package or a standalone endorsement for water back up.

Animal Attacks

If your pet ever attacks a guest on your property, you can help cover their medical payments when you have animal liability coverage. Florida Peninsula Provides animal liability coverage of $25,000 and medical payments of $2,000. Certain restrictions apply and are noted in your insurance policy.
